iPad has been needing the battery replaced for a while now but it's on its last leg at the moment.

Unfortunately this means that I will not be able to complete the commissions till it is repaired but that shouldn't take too long as the price for it isn't a lot, I just can't afford it at the moment.

Prices for repair are about 120$ give or take? So hopefully it won't take too long 😓

“Tell Blaidd, and Iji…I love them.”

Before this piece, I had been wanting for a long time to create my own piece of Elden Ring fanart featuring Ranni. I had tried several sketches unsuccessfully, just wasn’t particularly feeling the ideas I had sketched up until that point.

One day of usual internet scrolling, I stumbled upon this gorgeous piece of art by Shimomura Kanzan.

I knew immediately I wanted to do something like this for my Elden Ring fanart. In fact, if you look at this piece, there is tons of inspiration that I drew from the original artwork, such as the style of the yellow leaves and the main subject matter being a prominent silhouette of the brightest value, placed at approximately the bottom third of the image.

The main character is cleverly shrouded amidst various layers of trees and foliage, giving us the impression that we're peeking into candid moment of their life. In the case of the fox, we caught it during a mid-day snack. In the case of Ranni and her party, we caught them in a leisurely stroll, while Iji outfits the dreaded Fingercreepers with their iconic rings.

I wasn't sure if I wanted to capture a happy moment, but Ranni goes as far as to ask us to deliver to Iji and Blaidd the message that she loves them dearly as her quest draws near its end. I would imagine they all must have had fun moments together as a family. Hey, maybe even the hands liked to be around them?

The process

I started this on my iPad using the procreate app. Sadly the full process is not captured on video, as I switched to Photoshop for the rendering phase of the illustration. This video is a fun window into my chaotic process and how I iterate on the fly on the same canvas. I probably wouldn't do that in a professional setting where you often need to have color keys and iterations to be reviewed and analyzed. I like to I cut myself some slack when doing personal art to keep things fun.

Trying and failing some more

This illustration was not a straightforward path. I haven’t been very diligent about personal art, and at some point I started deviating too much from my reference by adding too many levels of depth to the background and suffocating the piece. I got into a weird loop where I would randomly open the PSD, play around with the values, pushing Iji to the back, then bringing him back, cranking all the levers on Ranni, etc., decide it would look horrible, then begrudgingly determine I’d never complete this image and go on with my life.

As artists we likely have unfinished work sitting everywhere, be it in our sketchbooks, canvases, or hard drives. But it’s a different kind of sting when you feel like you can’t even nail the fundamentals.

Anyway, so a couple weeks ago, I decided to give it another go, but this time I would get rid of all the unnecessary stuff, even stuff that I had been trying to render for ages. I would not hold on to anything, I would try and recapture what drew me to Kanzan's beautiful painting to begin with.

After it became a matter of pushing and pulling pixels until the image was finished!

That’s about it. I didn’t go crazy in depth but lately I’ve been enjoying reading into artists’ processes and I’d be remiss to not share my own thought process also.

And one angst prompt that been a fic in the making,,, Wally coming back from the mind trip of the speed force having to tell himself he's still here, and when the panic attack is coming on he called Dick to talk but.... He's off planet and he's about to lose it needing to talk to someone to tell him he's not on the speed force this ain't a trick.

And last idea, this is an au of mine but works with vampire king or reg vampire, Dick refusing to drink blood because he doesn't want to hurt his love ones but his two favorite gingers are trying to make him drink something because he needs to feed!!!

OKAY! I’ve been STRUGGLING with digital art lately and the other day while I was drawing my brother asks me to help him draw something and I took his book and was mind blown at how easy it was to draw on paper. I was like ‘woah! I can actually draw ‘🤣,

And he said yeah that’s why I don’t draw on tablet. ‘The pen slides too much.‘

I never thought about it until he said it so I got a paper like screen for my iPad and now my life has gotten TEN BILLION GANGLION TIMES EASIER. The app pencil isn’t sliding all over the place and I don’t have to redo over and over again. This drawing only took me like 2 hours and that was just because I was messing around getting a feel for it. The drawing I did for HOUSE OF ALPHA took me DAYS!

And any drawing I do feels so sloppy and weird but HOLY SMOKES the paper feel makes such a huge difference.

This chef is learning how to make some desert so still give me time but this is the first drawing I’ve ever felt good about to post so here you go!

Maybe I’ll draw every day and post it so you can see my journey. I didn’t do that before because it would take me so long to draw but with this I think I can manage practicing every day ^=^~!

So! If you draw digitally I would highly advise using a paper like screen to help so your pen isn’t sliding! It makes things much more accurate… which I’m learning is a huge thing about drawing… even the smallest thing is HUGE. That’s just something that helped me in this drawing journey :3

I've been in a major creative slump since the election, but I don't think it's just been the horrors of the future getting me down. I also think my med dosage was a bit too high for me for the last couple months, and my doctor reduced it a bit just after the election. So I feel like I'm slowly starting to get motivated to write and draw again, and even wrote a bit last night (even though I hate it and will probably rewrite it). My meds were making me feel emotionally flat and uninterested in anything. They're supposed to help me with task initiation and focus, and ended up doing the opposite because I didn't care enough to do anything. But now that that I've been on the reduced dose for a little while, I'm starting to feel my interest in hobbies and things returning, including my desire to write. I think my meds adjustment still needs to level out a bit, but when it does I think I'll be able to get back to writing and drawing more regularly. At least I hope so.

I'm also planning a trip abroad to see my long distance girlfriend early next year, which isn't really relevant to this post but it feels weird not mentioning it because I'm excited about it and it's something I'm looking forward to. And I hope to have a keyboard for my iPad by then that I can bring with me, and maybe do some writing on the plane and away from home, in a totally different part of the world.

v sorry if this is a weird question, but long have you been consistently drawing/keeping sketchbooks/etc? I got into your art like. four years ago and it really helped me realize that a lot of it is just practice and i’m kinda curious abt how long you’ve been doing it lol

I would say since I was in 5th grade (2014-2015) is when I started consistently keeping sketchbooks (I’ve been doing digital off and on since then too, but I became consistent with digital in 2020 when my dad let me use his work iPad to draw)

It was when I got medicated for my ADHD, so I guess my focus was finally directed towards something

I had always been drawing before that, but I REALLY got into art around that time

Art is definitely just a LOOOT of practice. I draw for hours and hours almost every day because I genuinely enjoy it and I love to create. I make a lot and I’m always improving and it’s because I’m always drawing ^^

okay so who’s here to ask about fish while i procrastinate on this fic /crickets/ okay good so

i don’t have much nautical nonsense going on so any sea enjoyers or boat lovers have anything to say please tell me anything i don’t know what the fuck is going on

I try to adapt the whole of P4 into a navy pirate sea thing whatever. Okay so the plot is that Inaba is this far off kind of fishing town city thing hold on let me draw it

Okay shitty ipad drawing. Anyway circular body of water which connects to the ocean sea or something. Civilization on the edge of the water or whaever

There’s fog that seems to concentrate only in the middle of that body of water and nobody can really get through it. People can get lost in it but they’ll end up somewhere outside the fog safety, they won’t get lost but they won’t exit where they’ll expect and they’ll never know what’s inside the fog.

When it rains enough, the fog would move to the warmer land and shore, then a storm brews in the area where the fog was originally concentrated in. It’s okay if it happens though, nobody gets to go outside but as also as no one comes near that part of the water they’ll be fine. It passes all becomes normal sooner or later.

and that’s what makes the town quirky lol. Souji’s parents are these naval based trading logistics kind of people and they also. travel by water a lot. Souji’s stuck being homeschooled or goes to some schools when they stay on land for an prolonged period of time but it’s never long.

His parents get a big offer and leave Souji with his uncle and cousin in bumfuck nowhere. But they also left him there because of this connection with the Junes equivalent of this au because they also have them as their partners.

Suddenly a mystery arises where dead bodies end up on the shore. They don’t look poisoned nor wounded anywhere. Their bodies look perfectly preserved besides the water damage, and the report that they didn’t die by drowning either.

The Investigation Crew is formed and they set out to the fog which they can enter apparently and see the Horrors and find the victim dumped there for whatever reason before it’s too late.

OKAY more world building shit where do i start ‘you haven’t mentioned the mermaids yet’ yeah there’s like two of them hold your horses.

The Midnight Channel is just like. If there’s commotion going on in the collective unconscious, people can peek their heads outside at midnight to hear the sea sing about who everyone’s thinking about. If you personally recognize who the subject of the song is, the song would be more cohesive and understandable rather than a melody without clear lyrics. If there’s a victim in the fog, the song will be about what they’re hiding and that they’re essentially letting people know about it now.

The TV world is basically the space inside the fog. The rogue Shadows are just like. sea monsters or something in the water. I haven’t figured out Persona equivalents though sorry. They get super pirate powers or something maybe then they get to punch fish with their bare hands lol.

There is no way for normal people to enter the fog unless theyve been put in by someone who can enter. And normal people can’t leave the fog once they’re in it either.

Just explained how the fog works above. Anyway, if the fog clears and moves to land, the “storm” has a sea monster in it as a Shadow self equivalent. It will sing a song about its human self, and if the human self denies, they’ll die.

Souji docked into town for the first time and there’s this boat repairman mechanic dock guy who greets him before local inspector comes by with his daughter to come fetch him. Souji gets a weird sea dream and apparently has powers to enter the magical fog now.

Two kids from his class tell him they can’t enter the fog and they try taking a boat to it for shits and giggles and to show Souji they’ll end up on another side. And they actually manage to get into the fog. Expecting to come out a different side of the fog, instead they hear a song of a distressed woman who hates another woman and is considering to end her own life. This sea lion manatee thing, idk i haven’t decided, comes up to them and pushes them out of the fog.

So a dead body shows up. Anyway um. Souji tries the rumor Chie mentioned and hears the song of a girl this time. Yosuke says she sounded like she was Saki and she sounded like she was in pain. Chie and Souji couldn’t make out the song as much because they don’t know Saki as much as Yosuke. And her body washes up on shore.

Yosuke wants to go back into the fog and Souji follows. Chie on another boat with a rope to their boat but it looks bitten off when they enter the fog so she cries. Yosuke and Souji meet the manatee sea lion thing and Yosuke calls it “Teddie” and he guides them to a part of the fog where the mist starts forming some illusion in the shape of the last victim’s reality.

SEA MONSTERS and um. Souji beats the shit out of them with the power of god and anime (izanagi maybe idk. lightning.) Yosuke hears his Shadow singing and talking shit about him and they have a throw down and he gets his powers and the fog starts changing shape and there’s no song anymore. They make a promise with Teddie they’ll make this part of the water quiet again and stop dead bodies from washing up.

OKAY DID THAT RENDITION OF THE INTRO MEAN ANYTHING . i could go on but i’m actually getting tired whoops.

okay back to world building. i’ll be honest i haven’t thought much about the IT because i’m insane or whatever.

Teddie is magical and shapeshifts to a humanoid form because i think he should do that. But he goes back animal mode to entertain the kids in the market.

Adachi was kicked out of the last crew was in and started sail boating his way to Inaba because that’s the only news he has of any similar patrolling inspector jobs he’s heard of and the nearest one apparently. He’ll be stuck in bumfuck nowhere until he can get a ferry or a better boat out but whatever.

He crashes his boat on the dock and starts yelling at the guy who was suppose to guide him. Same guy is dripping sopping wet from the rain earlier and also smells like fish, but he says he came from the fish market or something. Guy fixes Adachi’s boat and he leaves to get recruited by Dojima or something.

I don’t know how he gets victims to the fog don’t ask me about that. Anyway Namatame does his delivery gigs anyway and for some reason has an extra dingy on his boat to just. have victims drift inside maybe.

Naval logistics and deliveries are pretty hard because you can’t go straight across the fog, so it’s the long route of going around it. Junes equivalent group came around and had a bunch of imported products which started the decline of a bunch of local businesses but that’s how it was going to be.

The Velvet Room Ohhh S.S. Velvet or fucking whatever. Blue boat that constantly sails around the edge of the fog and is magical and never seen by no one but Souji. There is no one on the boat except like, three people. Sometimes the captain is there, sometimes he’s not. Margaret’s the acting captain but is ultimately there to assist Souji in finding the truth (a fish) and also babysit this kid she fished out of the water that he also met near the docks or something.

Marie amnesiac and likes writing poems and shanties and she sings them on starboard sometimes when no one’s around but starts screaming when Souji climbs aboard after he saw it sailing around and maybe Igor called him there.

She isn’t really human and she kind of smells like fish and the sea constantly also she has amnesia and says people shouldn’t bother with the truth and the fog and there’s no point trying to find the center of it (literally)

But she enjoys her new memories and experiences and will want to make more but she remembers SHE’S A FISH!!!!!! (siren) Then she thinks her voice was dangerous the whole time and goes shapeshifts fully and dives to the bottom of the sea. Margaret helps Souji’s crew to dive down and find her and save her but also realize there’s another fish behind everything.

it’s creepy because they really do know all your desires and your character and what you’re hiding and they’re the ones initially singing the first song before the victim actually gets into the fog.

Covered in seaweed and white moss and giant molted exoskeletons and scrap linens, and underneath it’s just a rotting fish constantly bleeding decaying with parasites all over and bony and terrifying how it can trick you with its voices and songs. In their humanoid form they can’t stay out of water for long because they’ll start smelling of rot or whatever.

Siren whose species was once actually well loved and worshipped and is guardian of that land they're trying to engulf and drown because they've been forgotten in the greed of the riches they've gathered for these people.

Siren mother who gave birth to two offspring and the elder one who watched her die from human greed and destructive desire. So it vowed to grow stronger and give humans what they deserve. But infected by polluted water and parasites that have been keeping them alive as a zombie until they forget their identity and sense of self. Forgetting their own promise of revenge and not acting right they lash out on their own sister they wanted to protect and leave her to forget her own identity and die alongside the humans she adores so much and who she actually wanted to protect.

Flowers in mount Todd, part 5

“In... out... in... o-out.”

Sam repeated quietly, keeping an eye out from the bus for a 5 year old girl in a pink bunny costume, a big dude and two boys with a creepy mask each.

He should’ve said no when he had the chance, he should’ve chickened out after he saw a noose and chair disappear.

But he had to stay and finish the game... to make things worse? He came back from deaths grasp to relive all that pain again.

He didn’t even know it’s possible to end up somewhere impossible... yet he’s here. After the fifth time he’s been killed, he gave up trying to make sense of it all and just try to survive their wrath.

Even so... he doesn’t want to deal with this, he’s tired, he feels uneasy, he’s scared and anxious out of his mind..! And a bit hungry.

After he calmed himself down and the colour in his vision became normal, he walked out the bus looking for another candle.

When he checked the time on his watch he sighed in relief at how close it is to 3:00am. Then again... the mere thought of meeting another vengeful spirit made him sigh.

After he transferred another candle, a piece of paper slipped out the side of his bag. “Seriously.” Sam said out loud, picking up the paper he dropped and stared at it. The same drawing he collected that didn’t make his spine crawl.

The drawing from 2:00am. He folded the paper, placed it in his pocket, got up and continued on his way before his candle could melt away.

But he began coughing up a handful of petals before he can continue. ‘I’m not getting any better.’ He thought and continued on his way.

Before he forgets, he made a mental note that there’s flowers everywhere, they’re in the building, next to the chimney, growing next to the well, damaged couch, some even slipped through onto the bus he entered.

He also saw some growing out of an unmarked grave, ok that part freaked him out a bit.... but he can’t help but find it intriguing that they end up in a place like this.

The more surprising part of flowers being almost everywhere is it’s mostly wallflowers! his favourite flower... it was supposed to weird Sam out but... it doesn’t.

When he was about to go north, the mangled twin appeared. Sam gasped with surprise and quickly avoided looking at him by walking in a different direction.

But that didn’t end very well when the twin went in front of him again and Sam didn’t have time to look away. He was choked to death and his neck snapped.

Sam awoke and groaned, wondering why they’re so angry... then he thought of something and went to look through his bag. He’s collected some stuff in his last hours of being here, he didn’t know why... by it seemed important to do so.

‘Maybe it has something to do with these.’ He thought, while thinking of a plan. It made sense to him, he thought if he brought the items back after the game... they’d be less angry. Sam nodded to himself and made that plan a promise he’ll keep.

“It’s the least I can do for trespassing, probably die trying... but it’s worth it.”

Aroace colors Inkling I made in Procreate for practice!

I've been trying to figure it out so I'm not making any good art to upload yet. This is the first thing I made that looks ok, and it's still pretty rough compared to what I usually do.

My experience working with an ipad below because wow that got long.

My dad got me an Ipad to replace my 2014 Samsung Galaxy because it's getting some battery issues but uh...I haven't used an Apple product in forever. It's been two weeks and using an ipad still feels like someone sawed off my hand and stapled it back on :') I think it's a combination of having to learn to use new hardware and software, but it's been so tough trying to make digital art on this thing.

I wish I could use Medibang since it's what I'm most used to, but for some reason the pen I'm using won't register pressure with Medibang, so I have to use Procreate. I changed the pressure settings to work with Procreate, but it's still weird and hardly works the way I want it to, so I'm not sure if it's something with the 3rd party pen I'm using, or something else. We did order a paperlike screen so hopefully that fixes some issues for me. I never had to use one for my Galaxy even though it had a glossy screen cover, but its stylus and the pen for Ipads have different tips and it's not easy using the pen to draw.

I had an easier time working with my wacom and CSP, but then again CSP and Medibang have similar layouts so it's not too difficult to adjust. Procreate is nice, but it's so different from what I'm used to that it feels like I'm arguing with someone just using its basic functions lol. I found the default brushes so difficult to use, too. My dumb monkey brain isn't flexible enough for this thing.

Kind of a rant, but it's just me complaining and it's a matter of my getting used to it. I did manage to make this, so hopefully I can consider Procreate as my next tool, But in the meantime, I still have my Galaxy and Medibang on it, so that's still where I'm mainly working. I reserve CSP for really big digital works or more complicated paintings since...it's a hassle setting up my pc and wacom tablet lol.

not to get super into it like i did in a previous post, but as i mentioned in said previous post, i was struggling a lot both in different aspects of my life and creatively. which sucks, because art has been both an enjoyment and an outlet, so not even being able to use it for purposes like venting- or feeling like that i couldn't make art AT ALL was just.. so difficult. not to mention having to convince myself that it was temporary and the storm of artblock couldn't last forever.

not to say that im fully through the storm yet- but this is the biggest, longest break in my fight with artblock that i've had in a long time. all because i switched up a drawing method. normally i draw either on paper or on my ipad (used as an on-screen drawing tablet) so when i got sick of/stuck with one, i would often switch to the other. but not too long ago BOTH mediums became impossible for me to create with. i tried new pens, new colors, new styles- nothing stuck, and nothing seemed to work.

all until i finally came home from my semester away at uni, and reunited with my off-screen drawing tablet. little tiny wacom intuos comic edition from 2016 that STILL WORKS despite how many years ive used it. so i decided to make this post :)

i'll be the first to admit it- going back to the hand-eye disconnect was WEIRD. but it was nice to go "back to my roots" in a sense- and after a few minutes of drawing the muscle memory started kicking in. it was fun. drawing was FUN.

drawing was FUN- creating was FUN. for the first time in months- YEARS of depressive art block, thinking i was just "bad" at digital art- i felt FREE. i didn't feel like i HAD to make things or else it invalidated me as an artist- i just... DID. / i came back with new skills and drawing techniques from years away and started being able to apply them and make my art look good. i was finally satisfied with what i was creating.

wait I just remembered I have a bunch of art apps on my ipad i dont use. The apps are as follows: -Medibang paint: Used to be my go to art app on my ipad before i got procreate. Was still using it quite a bit when still getting used to procreate but with every update it got worse and now its full of really disruptive ads >:( So not using it anymore -Colors!: felt nostalgic for colors!3D and wondered how it would feel on the ipad. Answer: does not feel good. User interface feels very clunky to use and drawing also does not feel great. Might just be because ive been spoiled with proper art programs for too long -Sketchbook: I think I downloaded it when it became free? Drew one thing in it and then never used it again. -Flip a clip: wanted to animate with audioscrubbing but it was being weird with my apple pencil and also animating hard so i lost interest. However I just tested it and now it works perfectly with my apple pencil! SOooo maybe i will get back to it? -Storyboard: Its to make story boards. Just checked if i made anything in it and the answer is no so i literally never used it rip -Nomad: 3D sculpting too scary ;;; Im too intimidated to really try using it Okay thats all of them

1. Art programs you have but don't use Fire Alpaca! It used to be my go to art program but I haven't touched it since moving to clipstudio. I have no clue how to use it anymore and I hate the bright interface but I also cant bring myself to delete it. Very sometimes i use it to quickly reduce the size of an image and save it as a jpeg but most of the time i just use clip studio for that also. Respect the flaming alpaca, it was my first step in pursuing digital art seriously on my laptop (before that i only drew digitally on my 3DS) 25. Haven't really had my art compared to anything to be honest. Maybe thats a good thing? Maybe i have had comments comparing my art to something and i just cant remember, who knows. I just would not know how to answer this. You peeps are free to send me asks what you think my art looks like/what you think inspired my style and I will be happy to confirm or deny!
